INVESTMENT IN AFRICA

Africa is part of the only garden of roses left in the world.Everywhere you throw a seed you will reap big.I call Africa my home,Yes ! Home sweet home! From Gold,Petroleum ,Coal and other natural mineral resources are all available in Africa but why is Africa still poor or a third world country.

The answer is in investment,we do earn lots of forex from all our resources but we need invest back from what gives us the fruits we yield from investment.

For instance Gold is available in various parts of the countries especially currently in East Africa but we never think of reserves all we think about is export,WHY? So we should also invest in Gold reserve centers and later use these reserves and re-injections into the economy in times or critical slow growth.

People usually forget to follow the Income Cycle ,A person Earns income,Saves Income,Invest,Spend profits.Yes we bring investors but do we fully utilize them that is do we adopt and create a typical copy of what someone has? Then use his copy to produce our own at a later stage. No! In most parts of Africa an expert will come with the investment team or company they will work and live without exchange program because program coordinators and board of directors matching on full stomachs with allowance or commission .That is so sad and ugly.

Now it is time ,I have grown up seeing it all i would love to bring change and i call upon more investors to come but this time with strings attached ,let us share and work with exchange programs and those who go on such programs come back with views on new innovations learnt or even become role models for the companies to train more people.

In the past ,Investors would build schools and those schools were run smoothly with high class training tutors /teachers but these days the motto is "KISS -Keep It Soft & Simple" as the Board puts it straight just waiting for investors to come.

I also think United Arab Emirates can be better investors in Africa but little room as has been given to them yet they would also beef up on investment in one way or another.

I surely believe i will one day visit the UAE and see how Dubai works and i would love to know why you can never separate Dollars and Gold from Dubai. How a Desert was made into a real life atmosphere ,How an artificial lake looks like? That is what i call investment ...changing a dead place into a lively haven.

Give an Arab a dead place and go ,come back the next time you will see significant change you might even feel jealous about how he thinks.

The way a person thinks is not only because of going to school, for instance my instincts tell me i am a natural thinktank- but in Africa how many people are called upon.In Japan a Toyota Thinktank goes home looking at various cars and comes back the next day in office and designs a new model,In UAE Dubai Engineer Zayid Dallallah  thinks of what the New Ford model would do,He is paid but here in Africa if you want to be an expert you need to come from a big office ....

My belief is that I can do any business and succeed no matter what it takes ,I just roll the dice but I keep the principles of management as my core goal of achievement.

Africa needs investment and really serious investors,

God Bless Investors .

Happy festive season.

How Technology can transform your life?

What is Technology?

The purposeful application of information in the design, production, and resource utilization of goods and services, and in the organization of human activities.

Adopting technology or embracing it would be very effective as a change to match forward.

For instance ,the Dutch engineers living with nature as a neighbour ,the Sea  currents come and claim a very big part of their land ,as they extend and transfer to the city center the population is at a blast rate all over the world.Right so the solution was to en Gulf the part of the Sea and like building a dam and true to that they have won back part of the Land once claimed by the sea and reoccupied it.

Let us put the puzzle together .... We go to school, follow the life tread of any human being then get a profession. But think twice is that profession the Icing on the Cake you have baked from age 4 to 21 when you graduate ?

My friend sit down and think again, the answer is no,you need to technologically be advanced and advised on which ICT module training goes hand in hand with your profession.

Gaining an added IT experience or Certification in an ICT module can really change your life.I personally did get a Diploma in Information Technology with Business and ccomputer Institute - London but then was not enough i also went back and go an international diploma in computer engineering on which i am also building to graduate with Bsc.ICT  because change never comes so easy and if you wait a lot of transformation is taking place.

Internet cafes are commonly designed on PC based installation but as a network engineer qualified in 1995 so one day you happen to encounter a call from a client and you find a Thin client internet cafe where will you start for sure.

Many people never seem bothered to go back and further study ,besides or learn something next door like traveling from one country to another. To make matters even worse Africa is an example ,a Tourist can tell more stories of a country than an indigenous dweller.

Let us learn to style up,do not wait for change to force you change.

Part Two of Introduction to computers for Begineers

Welcome back! in the previous publication we learnt what a computer was,the four basic tasks a computer does ,and a little depth into all the tasks from input ,output to the CPU, Now let  us look at the Memory .

The Main Memory or Storage  is usually confused with two terms that is Primary and Secondary .

The main memory of a computer is divided into two types.
The Primary Memory
Secondary Memory

The primary memory is actually sub divided into ROM and RAM
ROM = Read only Memory has got it's content and information stored permanently
RAM = Random Access Memory is commonly known as volatile memory or working memory.
This is because RAM losses its content or information if power is turned off abruptly.

However both RAM and ROM are found under Primary Memory.

The Secondary Memory
The Secondary Memory is actually all storage medias we use to store data from Hard Disk Drives,Flash Disks,Floppy Diskettes or generally commonly called Magnetic disks and Magnetic tape drives.

How about the talk about KB,MB GB ? or What is KB ?What is MB ? What is GB?

Actually computers store data by a process called digitization. Or Simple by the use of Digits these digits(0,1) are electronic states where 1 means On and 0 means Off.

That how the term Binary comes in meaning two (2) .

The smallest unit of data is a Bit or you can say

A bit is a binary value (0 or 1)

A group of 8 bits form a Byte

Approximately 1,000bytes form a Kilobyte or 1 KB = 1024 bytes (Kilo signifies 1,000 a unit volume represented as K=1024 bytes exactly ).

Approximately 1,000,000bytes form a Megabyte or  1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes  =K2

Approximately 1,000,000bytes form a Gigabyte or    1 GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes  = K3

For further  information and indepth unit volume keep visiting this blog or reply directly as we shall cover everything in the numbering system of computers from Binary Numbering ,Decimal number ,and Hexadecimal numbering systems.

Generally that is my brief introduction to computers for any beginners and starters. As more can be learnt or taught at later stages .

I wish all success and especially to my trainees from Open University of Tanzania - Mwanza .

Congratulations to all trainees who passed their Semester Exams in ICT at Open University of Tanzania - Mwanza i wish you  a happy graduation this weekend.

Thanks for reading my Blog always .

God Bless you .

Learn Computer - Introduction to Computers Article One

Thanks to all people who contact me through my phone and email...Many of you asked me about computers and here is the first step i am putting forward.

Let us start with questions and answers follow

What is a computer ?
A computer is an electronic device that manipulates data.A computer can also be defined as an electronic device that is capable of  receiving, processing, outputting and storing data.

How does it manipulate data ?
A computer manipulates data through the using a set of instructions. For instance for a letter to appear on the Monitor/screen the user types a letter on the keyboard and the process that takes place is shown on after the CPU interprets it.

Basically a computer does four (4) tasks
i) Input
ii)Process
iii)Output
iv)storage.

From the basic tasks is where the definition of a computer can be well derived.

What is the importance of computer is our daily lives?
Computers actually do ease work for people and in some cases have even taken up jobs people do.
Importance of computers include the following;
  • For typesetting work
  • For Entertainment like watching movies, playing games, listening to music.
  • For keeping records.
  • For creation of employment opportunities like secretaries, IT personnel, Internet Cafe attendants
  • For Business Creations like IT Institutes, Internet Cafes,
  • For security purposes like managing premises,Buildings with CCTV (Closed Circuit Televisions)
  • For Faxing
  • For online Telephone calls like Google Talk,Skype,Yahoo messenger ,
  • For online Conferences
  • For Sending messages like the use of email.
  • For Educative purpose like the http://ulaker-alexander.blogspot.com/
  • For surfing the internet to gain knowledge like Google Search engine
  • For Teleworking
  • For Banking like online banking eg HSBC
Generally the importance of the computer are many and the list is endless .

To know more about the computer let us look at its parts.
A computer has four 4 main parts
i) Keyboard
ii)Mouse
iii)Monitor
iv)CPU
In details let us look at these main parts as Input devices,Output devices,System Unit and Storage.
What are Input Devices?
These are devices used to enter data into the computer. For Example the Keyboard ,Mouse,Stylus,Scanner,Digital camera,Floppy diskettes,CD/DVD ROM s,Floppy Drives ,Microphone to mention but a few.

What are Output devices?
These are devices used to display processed data from the computer.Data processed can be presented in two ways that is as Soft copy on the Monitor and Hard copy through a printer.Examples of Output devices are Printer,Monitor,Digital cameras,Fax machine,Speakers,Modems Flash disks,Floppy Diskettes.

The Monitor of a computer come in two common types
Cathode Ray Tube CRT
Liquid Crystal Display unit  LCD

There are some devices that work as both input and output like the modems, digital cameras, Floppy Diskettes, Head Phones with a microphone and Speaker.

The System Unit (CPU)
The System Unit is a very important  part of the computer component controls all the functions within the computer and without it the computer system fetch and execute  cycle can not be broken down well.

  • It is the main brains of the computer
  • It controls all the functions within the computer

There are three main components of the central processing unit.
  1. The Control Unit
  2. The Arithmetic and Logic Unit
  3. The Memory/Storage
·  The Control Unit
The control unit of the CPU contains circuitry that uses electrical signals to direct the entire computer system to carry out, or execute, stored program instructions. Like an orchestra leader, the control unit does not execute program instructions; rather, it directs other parts of the system to do so. The control unit always will communicate with both the arithmetic/logic unit and memory.
The Arithmetic/Logic Unit
The arithmetic/logic unit (ALU) contains the electronic circuitry that executes all arithmetic and logical operations.

The arithmetic/logic unit can perform four kinds of arithmetic operations, or mathematical calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. As its name implies, the arithmetic/logic unit also performs logical operations. A logical operation is usually a comparison. The unit can compare numbers, letters, or special characters. The computer can then take action based on the result of the comparison. For instance if you wanted to know the difference between the CRT and LCD Monitor you can simple ask in Google Engine CRT Vs LCD and the Logic Unit will jump into action.

Memory and Storage
Memory is also known as primary storage, primary memory, main storage, internal storage, main memory, and RAM (Random Access Memory). Different people usually interchange. Memory is the part of the computer that holds data and instructions for processing. Although closely associated with the central processing unit, memory is separate from it. Memory stores program instructions or data for only as long as the program they pertain to it in operation.
